New York State Licensure Update

New York State Licensure Update 12/2012:

In October of 2012, the New York State Education Department began sending notices to individuals with New York State Limited Licenses to remind them of their obligations to complete all licensure requirements by September 1st, 2013. Limited Licenses will not be valid or renewed after the expiration date nor will this transition pathway be available. It is imperative that these individuals complete all the necessary educational requirements and pass the examination to ensure that they can remain employed in a clinical laboratory in New York State.

All grandfathering and transition pathways that have not already expired will do so on September 1st 2013. As of the date, only the standard pathway for licensing will be available for those seeking employment in New York State.

At this time, the New York State Education Department highly recommends that individuals with Limited Licenses submit their application for licensure by May 1 of 2013 in order to allow the Department sufficient time to review and approve the application. If individuals with associate degrees (or higher) who are still unsure if they meet all the educational requirements may submit the application with the forms documenting the additional course work completed to date (degree documentation is already on file as part of the limited license application) so that the Department may review and notify of you of any incomplete requirements.
